QCQ #11

Q: “and we shall follow; yours is the right to begin”

C: There is a legend that “terrible things come in threes” and I believe that applies to the scene where the three “sisters” come in. The legend goes back to trench warfare and it goes as follows: if a soldier lights his match and 3 soldiers can light their cigarettes before the match goes out, then the match was on long enough for the enemy to see it. Also, I was a bit confused when I read about the 3 sisters because I have also heard them referred to as “Dracula’s brides” but after reading this section I feel as though it may be possible that the blond one may be Dracula’s wife while the two dark haired ones are his daughters? Especially because of them essentially “following her lead” with Harker.

Q: Are they brides or sisters? What exactly is their relationship to Dracula and how did they get there? What’s their story?
